Chin Dimpling.

Did you know that botox treatment can actually help minimise the appearance of chin dimples and creases? Just as it helps wrinkles and fine lines in other areas of the face, it has proven to be effective in minimising the appearance of chin dimpling.

Chin dimpling is usually caused by an overactive mentalis muscle. The mentalis is a muscle pair on the tip of the chin that helps control the movement of the lower lip. Patients with this kind of dimpling can often experience great improvement in the appearance of the chin with Botox injections. Through the careful placement of the injections, the mentalis muscle can be calmed and relaxed to smooth out the dimpled area. Botox is neuromodulator that stop the receipt of nerve impulses to the muscle so that the muscle stops contracting. This causes the area to relax and the dimples to be less apparent. Patients with especially deep chin dimples and creases may experience optimal results from the injection of facial fillers or a combination of fillers and Botulinium toxin A (Botox).<

Botox for Chin Dimpling.

Q: What causes chin dimpling?

A: A lot of dimpling is caused by a hyperactive mentalis muscle. The contracting of this muscle causes the appearance of dimples or creases that can often be minimized through neurotoxin injections. It is important to note that some chin dimpling can be the result of acne scarring, which is best treated with facial fillers. In some patients, a combination of facial fillers and neuromodulators provides optimal results.

Q: How does Botox Cosmetic help?

A: Botox stops the nerve impulses that are sent to the muscle, preventing it from contracting. The contracting of the muscle during facial movement is what causes most chin dimpling, so by relaxing the muscle, the area on the surface smooths out and chin dimpling is less visible.

Q: Am I a good candidate?

A: A patient who is in good health and wishes to minimize the appearance of chin dimples or wrinkles is likely a good candidate.

Q: How long will the results last?

A: Results vary from one person to the next as each person’s body metabolizes the neuromodulator differently. On average, though, Botox injection results last up to three to six months. Treatments for dimples can be repeated once results have worn off.
